Working Days Calculator (Germany)
Count the working days between two dates, excluding weekends and the public holidays of the federal state you pick. Handy for deadlines, notice periods and leave planning.
Working days = calendar days − weekends − public holidays of the selected federal state. Because each of the 16 states has different holidays, the count changes with the state you choose. Moveable feasts (Easter-based) are computed for the year, so any date range is accurate.
Werktage vs. Arbeitstage
German law distinguishes two ideas that both translate to "working days". Werktage are all days except Sundays and public holidays — so Saturday is a Werktag, which matters for statutory notice and vacation calculations. Arbeitstage are the days you actually work, usually Monday to Friday. This calculator counts Arbeitstage (Mon–Fri minus public holidays); use the state selector to apply the right holidays.
