Decimal hours = hours + (minutes ÷ 60). So 8h 15m = 8.25. Industrial minutes are hundredths of an hour, so 30 minutes = 50 industrial minutes (0.50 h), not 30. Payroll uses these formats so time multiplies cleanly by an hourly wage.

Divide the minutes by 60 and add them to the whole hours: decimal hours = hours + (minutes ÷ 60). So 8 hours 15 minutes = 8 + 15/60 = 8.25 decimal hours.
Industrial minutes are hundredths of an hour: one hour = 100 industrial minutes. So 30 real minutes = 50 industrial minutes (0.50 h), and 15 minutes = 25. German time-tracking and payroll use this because it adds and multiplies cleanly.
You cannot multiply 8:15 by an hourly wage directly, but you can multiply 8.25. Decimal hours avoid the rounding errors that occur when the 60-minute clock is used in spreadsheets.
Take the whole number as hours; multiply the decimal part by 60 for minutes. 7.75 hours = 7 hours + 0.75 × 60 = 7 hours 45 minutes.
